I’m a model. Or rather, I’d like to be one.
I started modeling in September 2012 when I was 16. At that time, I weighed 120lbs at 5’10” and my measurements were 31-25-34.5. I soon gained 8lbs. My measurements changed to 32-25.5-36. I was, after all, a growing girl.
Today, I am 18, 140lbs and my measurements are 32-26-38. If you know the modeling industry, 38 inch hips fall in the awkward section… not fitting into straight model section but not curvy enough for the plus size section.
These photos are from today. I decided to play around with some of my clothes and after all, I love modeling, so it was fun to pose. Problem is, no one wants to hire me. I’m not “thin enough.” I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been told to lose weight. When I was first searching for agencies, one told me I was beautiful but that I needed to get a size smaller and then I could reapply.
I could just walk away and say, “I’m not cut out to be a model” but the truth of the matter is that I want to model. So I am going to keep trying to get work by being myself. I work out frequently, but it’s no longer so that I lose weight, but rather so that I can lead a healthy lifestyle. I’m not going to starve myself. I’m not going to deny myself of the occasional cupcake. No, I am going to love myself. I’m me and I’m learning to love it.
Maxi dresses have been trending over the last year, but few look flattering in them. My tip? Add a belt so you can add shape, especially if it’s a straight maxi dress, with no drawing at the waist.
I love the classy, sleek pants that are runways… like that of Alberta Ferreti’s Resort Style.

The Pantsuit in Plum.
I’m not a personal fan of the pantsuit but it’s awfully flattering in this sleek, plum-coloured style.
